The Archbold Acme team defeated Edon 5-1, Monday, June 25, to improve its record to 13-5.
Taylor Price pitched five strong innings, only allowing three hits and striking out 11. Tyson Dietrich pitched the final two innings and earned the save.
Evan Wyse, Micah Bernath, and Tyson Dietrich led Archbold at the plate with two singles each.
Jase Grosjean had a single in the seventh to add two insurance runs.
Archbold 14, Swanton 3
Archbold continued its winning ways, Tuesday, June 26 with a 14-3, five inning victory over Swanton.
Swanton opened with two hits in the first off starting pitcher Michael Walker and an early 1-0 lead. It was the last time the Streaks trailed.
Swanton managed only one hit the rest of the game as Walker kept the Bulldogs off balance with his curve ball. He pitched four innings, giving up three hits, striking out six, and walking one. Tyson Schnitkey pitched the last inning in relief.
Archbold bats did a lot of damage early as Archbold scored 11 runs in the second inning.
Leading hitters were Dietrich, three hits including a triple; Wyse, two hits including a double and four runs batted in; Grosjean and Bernath, two singles each; Price, a triple.
Archbold 11, PH 9
Archbold finished its regular season at Patrick Henry with an 11-9 victory, Thursday, June 28.
Both teams withstood 107-degree heat at the start of the game.
Archbold also overcame a shortage of players. With only eight players available to start the game, the Streaks used only two outfi elders and was down 1-0 after one.
Late-arriving players led to Archbold taking a 4-1 lead after the Streaks (15-5) batted twice.
The Patriots regained the lead 5-4 after two complete innings.
Bernath threw extremely well and went 4 1/3 innings on the mound. Price closed out the Patriots late threat and earned the save. The game was called at the end of six due to darkness.
Leading hitters were Walker, three singles and three RBIs, and Wyse, three singles. Matt Sevey hit two singles after being called up from the Jr. Acme team. He filled in for several injuries and illnesses the team had recently.
