Accident Victims Had Archbold Ties



Kaitlyn A. Knox, 22, Stryker, and her newborn daughter Addison Kaitlyn Knox, who died as a result of an auto accident, had ties to Archbold.

Addison’s father and Kaitlyn’s boyfriend, Jake Nafziger, Stryker, is an AHS graduate.

Addison’s paternal grandparents are Dean and Sue Nafziger, Archbold. Her paternal great-grandparents are Ralph and Hazel Rychener, Pettisville.

The Crash

The Ohio State Highway Patrol report states Kaitlyn Knox, who was pregnant with Addison, was driving a car north on Ohio 15 about 8:30 am, Thursday, Jan. 28, when her vehicle went out of control north of Defiance, near Blosser Road in Defi- ance County.

Knox’s auto spun and crossed the centerline.

Her auto then collided with a southbound car, driven by Elizabeth Stockinger, 29, Bryan.

Delaware Fire-Rescue and Ney-Washington Township Rescue responded to the crash scene. Knox and Stockinger were transported to the Defiance Regional Medical Center by Delaware.

Stockinger was treated and released at DRMC.

Birth

Gale Horn, an Ohio State Highway Patrol trooper, said when Knox arrived at DRMC, her daughter was born by emergency cesarean section and transported to Toledo Hospital.

Kaitlyn was declared dead at 9:50 am at DRMC.

Addison, who was premature, died at 1:10 pm the following day at Toledo Hospital, Horn said.
