Absentee Ballots Are Ready For Dec. 11 Special Election

Brett Kolb, director of the Fulton County Board of Elections, said Tuesday that absentee ballots are available for the Tuesday, Dec. 11, Fifth District special congressional election.

Requests for absentee ballots must be made in writing to the Fulton County Board of Elections by noon, Saturday, Dec. 8. Forms for requesting absentee ballots are available at the board office in Wauseon.

Ballots may be obtained by mail without the request form.

To request an absentee ballot, persons must provide their name, signature, Fulton County address where they are registered to vote, and date of birth.

Also, persons requesting absentee ballots must provide one of the following items: driver license number, last four digits of their social security number, current and valid photo identification, current utility bill, bank statement, paycheck, government check, or other government document that shows the person’s name and Fulton County address.

Persons must state for which election they want a ballot, that they are qualified voters, and if requesting a ballot by mail, the address to which the ballot should be mailed.

Ballots must be returned by 7:30 pm, Dec. 11.

When picking up ballots at the board office, only the person voting may pick up ballots. A wife cannot pick them up for a husband or vice-versa.

The board office is open from 9 am to 4 pm, Monday through Friday. The office will be open 9 am to noon Saturday, Dec. 8, for absentee voting.

Voters in Fulton County will face one ballot item: the race between Bob Latta (R-Bowling Green) and Robin Weirauch (DNapoleon) for the Fifth District congressional seat.

The election was made necessary by the Sept. 5 accidental death of Paul Gillmor (R-Tiffin).

There are no changes in polling places or polling place hours for the special congressional election.
