There were 1,700 Fulton County residents out of work in July, pushing estimated unemployment to 7.2%, according to the Ohio Department of Job and Family Services.
It is the highest in the four counties of Fulton, Defiance, Henry, and Williams, and represents an eight-tenths (.8) percentage-point jump in unemployment from June, which then was 6.4%.
Unemployment in May, was 5.4%.
Defiance County had the lowest unemployment in July, 6.5%; Henry and Williams: 6.8%.
While unemployment in the four county area went up, ODJFS statistics showed in July, the overall unemployment in Ohio went down four tenths of a point, from 6.1% to 5.7%. The 5.7% figure is before seasonal adjustments; county data is not seasonally adjusted.
ODJFS estimated that in July, Fulton County work force was 24,100 workers. Figures do not add due to rounding.
