Myrtie M. Stoltzfus

Myrtie M. Stoltzfus, age 89, passed away Nov. 28, 2018, in Colorado Springs, Colo.

Myrtie was born Feb. 28, 1929, in Wauseon, to Glenn and Laura (Grieser) Rufenacht.

She was a resident of Colorado Springs since 1970 and a resident of Phoenix, Ariz., for 13 years prior to that.

She worked for many years as an administrative assistant in the business office at Penrose Hospital.

Myrtie was well known and recognized for her incredible talent with sewing, knitting, crocheting, and quilting. Her handcrafts were second to none.

She was a first-class baker when it came to creating custom cakes.

She was a longtime member of Trinity Church of the Nazarene and a Craft Administrator for many years with the Salvation Army.

Myrtie married LeRoy W. Stoltzfus on Aug. 6, 1950, in Archbold.

Myrtie is survived by her daughter, Brenda (Narciso “Sandy”) Sandoval; sons, Byron J. (Cherri) and Brent L. (Sherri) Stoltzfus. She is also survived by her grandchildren, Brittni (Stuart) Girk, Kyli (Russ) Fink, Nicole (Paul) Warner, and Drew (Kiana) Stoltzfus, and her great-grandchildren, Hensley Jae Girk, Wesley Jay Fink, and Adaiaed “Addi” Remee Fink.

In addition, she is survived by sisters Margaret Nofziger and Jane Lechlitner, and brothers Kenny and Max Rufenacht.

She is preceded in death by her husband; parents; grandson, Byron J. Stoltzfus, Jr.; brothers, Wayne, Willard, and Marlin; and sisters, Thelma, Doris, and Carolyn.

A memorial service was held at 11 a.m. on Monday, Dec. 3, 2018, at Trinity Church of the Nazarene, 5055 El Camino Dr., Colorado Springs, Colorado 80918.

Private inurnment will be at the Shrine of Remembrance Chapel Mausoleum.

Memorial contributions may be made in Myrtie’s memory to the Many Hands Quilt Ministry at Trinity Church of the Nazarene or to the Humane Society of the Pikes Peak Region.
