Welcome Back, Jayson And Olivia Selgo

It’s official. The Archbold School Board has tabbed Jayson Selgo to be the next superintendent.

For Selgo, it’s a chance to move another step up the education career ladder, and a chance for him and his wife Olivia to return to their hometown.

Since graduating from AHS in 2001, Selgo has not slowed down. He earned bachelor’s, master’s, and doctorate degrees, and teaching, principal, and superintendent licensures in 15 years, all while holding down jobs and raising a family.

An Archbold native, he is well aware that the Archbold School District is unique. He pointed out there are high expectations for students, and significant community support to sustain those expectations.

He comes from a family of educators. His father taught in the district; his uncle was the elementary principal.

A superintendent’s job is not easy, with a myriad of responsibilities and a sometimes-brutal schedule. A superintendent is like a chief executive officer of a corporation– responsible for transportation (buses), food service (cafeterias), maintenance of buildings and grounds, plus directly or indirectly supervising hundreds of students and dozens of staffers.

Selgo has impressive credentials. We look forward to a bright future under his leadership.
