Raises Approved For Pettisville Support Staff

The Pettisville School Board approved raises for the district support staff during a Tuesday, July 3 special meeting.

After meeting in executive session, the board returned to regular session and approved a 3% increase in base pay for support staff for the 2018-19 school year.

The board also approved a percentage increase “equal to that received by the licensed staff (teachers) for 2019-20.”

The board approved a 3% base pay increase for teachers for 2019-20 during its Monday, June 11 meeting. Licensed staff also received a 3% base pay hike for 2018-19.

The board also approved shared supplemental contracts for Kayla Bruner as seventh grade girls basketball and special assistant for softball.

Alexis King was granted a shared contract as a special assistant for softball.

Bruner and King are the daughters of John King, school board member.

The board attempted to vote on the contracts before, but with members absent and J. King abstaining from voting to avoid a conflict, the final vote was two in favor, none opposed, and one abstention.

Steve Switzer, superintendent, said three votes are required to issue supplemental contracts.

With all members present on July 3, the vote was 4 in favor, none opposed, and one abstention.

Switzer also said school officials opted for all-new air conditioning equipment for the school weight room. Total cost was $5,661, as opposed to $2,320 to purchase the compressor only.

“We chose the all-new route,” Switzer said.

The next meeting is Monday, July 23, 8 pm, in the school conference room.
