Robinson Named Interim Archbold Superintendent

Marc Robinson Marc Robinson After years of experience in education in Northwest Ohio, Marc Robinson will bring his expertise to Archbold Schools.

In a press release, Aaron Rex, Archbold superintendent, announced that Robinson will be the interim superintendent for the 2018-19 school year.

He replaces Rex, who will become superintendent at Wapakoneta.

Robinson said he is “truly interested in helping them (the Archbold School Board) out as they look to transition from Mr. Rex to the next fulltime superintendent.”

Robinson said he and Rex will work together.

“There will be some transition days when he will do his best to indoctrinate me into the issues that he’s dealing with and get the lay of the land, so that we’re able to get a smooth start to the school year,” Robinson said.

Rex’s last day on the job is July 31. Robinson officially takes over Aug. 1.

Shelby, Ohio

Robinson was born and raised in Shelby, approximately 10 miles from Upper Sandusky.

A graduate of Shelby High School, he earned an undergraduate degree from Bowling Green State University.

Robinson started teaching in Eastwood schools, then moved to Montpelier and then Upper Sandusky for a year.

He moved to Bryan, then back to Montpelier as middle school principal, his first administrative job.

After two years, he became the superintendent in Montpelier.

In 1999, Robinson became the Wauseon superintendent.

“I left there in August of 2012 and became the executive director” at the Northwest Ohio Computer Association (NWOCA), a non-profit cooperative association of school districts located in Archbold. NWOCA provides data processing and Internet access for 40 mem- ber districts.

“I retired from there in July 2017.”

Doing Nothing

“I made up my mind when I retired from NWOCA that I was not going to do anything for six-eight-nine months,” Robinson said.

“Then it was my intention to get back involved in something. Ultimately, school administration– that’s what I do. Archbold was in need, and I was truly interested in helping them out.”

Robinson is very familiar with Archbold.

“In my career prior to getting into administration, I was the head basketball coach for 18 years at Montpelier and Bryan. I was very familiar with them (Archbold) athletically,” he said.

“When I was superintendent at Wauseon, I worked with Mr. (Ken) Cline (former Archbold superintendent).

“At NWOCA, I worked closely with Mr. Rex.

“My familiarity with Fulton

County, with Archbold, will certainly be beneficial.”

Robinson said he is excited about his new job.

“I absolutely am. I purposely sat out, ultimately it will be close to a year, with the intent of getting back into something,” he said.

The Archbold School Board meets Monday, June 18, 4:30 pm, in the AHS media center. During the meeting, the board is expected to formally approve a contract for Robinson.
