Library Board Names New Fiscal Officer

Amy Wendt, rural Ridgeville Corners, is the new fiscal officer of the Archbold Community Library.

In an emergency meeting, Monday, May 14, at the library, the Library Board met in executive session for about 20 minutes for personnel issues.

When the board returned to regular session, it voted to offer the part-time position to Wendt.

Jed Grisez, board president, said after the meeting was adjourned he contacted Wendt, who accepted the position.

Sonya Huser, library director, said Wendt has experience as a fiscal officer, working with the Henry County Sheriff Department.

“Amy has all the qualifications” necessary for the post,” she said.

An exact start date has not been established. Huser anticipates Wendt will begin training with Jennifer Harkey, former library fiscal officer, this weekend.

Harkey was library fiscal officer for about nine years before taking a position with the village of Swanton.

Grisez said, “I feel good about Amy’s qualifications. She’s very well organized and a good collaborator.

“In previous positions, she’s worked with several different departments, and has always been sympathetic towards people’s time.”

The fiscal officer issue was discussed at the regular board meeting, Wednesday, May 9, but a decision was tabled.

There were initially four candidates for the post. Some were not qualified.

The decision came down to two.

“We had two really wellqualified candidates, but Amy is the right one,” Huser said.
