Grime Wins State Championship!

UPDATE #5: Gavin Grime won the Div. III 145-lb. state championship with a 3-2 decision over Galion Northmor's Conan Becker, Saturday night, March 10!-Posted 3.10, 8:05 pm


UPDATE #4: Colton Soles lost a 7-3 decision to Bethel-Tate's Matt Hall to finish eighth in the 152-lb. weight class at the Div. III state wrestling meet, Saturday, March 10, in Columbus.

UPDATE #3: Gavin Grime scores nearfall points against Joey Caprella of Lima Central Catholic in the 145-pound championship semifinals. Grime scored an 8-3 victory over Caprella and advances to tomorrow night's championship finals to face Conan Becker of Galion Northmor.

Colton Soles dropped a 3-2 decision to Swanton's Chase Moore in the consolation quarterfinals. Soles wrestles tomorrow for seventh place. 


UPDATE #2: Colton Soles (152 lbs.) assured himself of placement at the state wrestling tournament with a 12-0 major decision over Mark Woodard of West Jefferson in the consolation second round. The win puts soles in the top 8 of his weight class.-Posted 3.9, 1:10 pm


UPDATE: Gavin Grime (145 lbs.) defeated Brennan Shirley of Massillon Tuslaw 7-0, Friday, March 9, in the championship quarterfinals of the Div. III state wrestling tournament to advance to Friday night's semifinal against Joey Caprella of Lima Central Catholic.

Colton Soles (152 lbs.) lost a 3-1 decision to Kyle Rider of Massillon Tuslaw and falls to the consolation bracket.-Updated 3.9, 11:46 am


Gavin Grime (145 lbs.) and Colton Soles (152 lbs.) won their championship preliminary matches at the Div. III state wrestling tournament, Thursday, March 8, in Columbus.

Grime, a senior, won a 3-1 decision over W. Milton Milton-Union's Dylan Schenck.

Soles, a senior, won a 6-5 decision over Bethel-Tate's Matt Hall.

Mason Babcock, a sophomore, lost a 9-1 major decision to Martins Ferry's Drake Dobson.

Babcock then dropped out of the tournament by getting pinned in the consolation round by Harrod Allen East's Garrett Neth.

Championship quarterfinals begin at 10 am, Friday morning.–Updated 3.8, 9 pm
