Letter To The Editor

Gentlemen: To renew my subscription or not?

I was not expecting the increase in your newspaper subscription this year. However, the letter that was included with it was very informative.

Yes, you are a family-owned business.

Yes, you are one of the few left.

Yes, you have not increased your price since 2014.

I was debating whether or not to continue subscribing to the printed edition or not.

What caught my eye a few weeks back in the page that I scan and read first was what happened years ago in the community.

On Dec. 23, 1942, 75 years ago and before I was born, you printed that Mr. and Mrs. Glen Seiler on East Holland Street had to call the fire department.

They were my parents.

I knew as a young married couple that they worked and lived in Archbold, but didn’t have an address of where they lived.

The Buckeye supplied that to me. That was worth my whole year’s subscription price to have that article and gem to pass on to my children and grandchildren.

Is the Buckeye worth getting outside of the area? Is it expensive? Yes!

But what kind of price would you put on a piece of family history you didn’t know!

Please find my check enclosed for next year’s subscription. It is worth it!
