Lodema M. Maust

Lodema Maust Lodema Maust Lodema M. Maust, age 95, of Archbold, passed away Wednesday, Oct. 4, 2017, at Fairlawn Rehab.

She was born May 5, 1922, in Wauseon, the daughter of Clarence and Eliza (Beck) Nofziger.

She married Walter Maust on Feb. 27, 1941, and he preceded her in death on Dec. 7, 2002, after 61 years of marriage.

Lodema accepted Christ and was baptized at an early age. She was an active member of Central Mennonite Church.

Lodema graduated from Archbold High School in 1940 and was a lifelong resident of Archbold. She was employed by Brookview Farms for many years and then at Sauder Village Café, while assisting her husband on the family farm with planting and harvesting crops.

Walt and Lodema spent many fun filled summer vacations with the family at Burt Lake, Mich.

After retiring, Walt and Lodema spent their winters in Florida and also enjoyed travels to Alaska, Hawaii, Haiti and Europe.

Lodema enjoyed gardening, flowers, cooking, baking and sharing her delicious chocolate chip cookies and homemade candy with family and friends.

She loved spending time with her family, and they always knew and felt that they were a priority in her life.

Lodema was the happiest when she could be helping any member of the family with running errands, ironing, cleaning, rolling out pie crusts, baking cookies or helping crack eggs for countless hours for her granddaughter’s noodle business.

She also had enough love to go around for the family’s four-legged furry members.

Christ was her priority, but family was a close second. Lodema looked forward to attending all of her great-grandchildren’s school activities, including sporting events and musical programs.

Lodema is survived by her daughter, Donna Windisch; grandchildren Mike (Pam) Sauder, Michelle (Dallas) Rupp, Jodi (Eric) Sauber and Jen (Troy) Banister; 11 great-grandchildren, Justin (Bethany) Sauder, Melinda (Isaac) McClarren, Darin (Rachel) Sauder, Garrett Rupp, Emily (fiancé Hans Lundberg) Rupp, Audra Rupp, Grant Sauber, Cam Sauber, Trent Sauber, Oliviah Banister and Jaden Banister; and greatgreat granddaughter Taya McClarren.

She was preceded in death by her parents; husband Walt; daughter Sandy Sauder; sister Leanna Baus, two infant grandsons and sons-in-law Chuck Sauder and Jerry Windisch.

A celebration of Lodema’s life was held on Monday, Oct. 9, at 11 a.m. at Central Mennonite Church. Interment preceded at Pettisville Cemetery. Memorial contributions may be given to Fairlawn Haven, Sauder Village, Central Mennonite Church or the donor’s choice.
