14 Return For Ahs Girls Soccer

The Archbold girls soccer team, under the guidance of James Kidder, 12th year head coach, has 14 letterwinners return to a program that finished 11-5-2 last year and 3-2 in the Northwest Ohio Athletic League.

“We’re looking at lots of experience returning in key positions this fall, but we also have some great new talent joining our team,” said Kidder.

“The incoming freshmen have played lots of soccer prior to getting to high school. That high-level game experience will be a big plus to our program.”

Lost to graduation were Emily Roth, McKenna Lantz, Lexa Richardson, and Marissa Fryman.

Back are Emie Peterson, Brooke Kohler, Giulia Lee, Leah Hall, Kamryn Hostetler, seniors; Andi Peterson, Dakota Stamm, Kate Short, Lily Krieger, Kennedy Miller, Faith Wyse, juniors; Naomi Rodriguez, Chloe Nofziger, and Madison Gigax, sophomores.

Kohler, E. Peterson, Hostetler, A. Peterson, and Nofziger received league recognition, while Kohler and E. Peterson received district recognition.

Promising newcomers include Grace Mayer, Macy Peterson, and Regan Ramirez, all freshmen.

“We are looking to improve on a short but strong tournament run from last year,” said Kidder, after the Streaks lost a 2-1 overtime contest in the Division III sectional final.

“We have added some additional quality opponents, and I think we should be a contender for the league this year.

“The NWOAL is always strong on the girls side in soccer. There isn’t a team that can be written off, and every game will be a battle from beginning to end.”

The Streaks are scheduled to open their season Saturday, Aug. 19, at Kalida.
