Streaks Play Stritch In Regional Semifinal

When Archbold (20-5) plays Cardinal Stritch (21- 4) in a Division III regional boys basketball semifinal tonight, Wednesday, 8 pm, at Bowling Green State University, they’ll battle a team on a 12-game win streak.

The Cardinals finished the regular season with an 18-4 record, and placed second in the Toledo Area Athletic Conference at 11-3.

Seeded fourth in the Toledo District, Stritch has won three straight overtime games to make it into the regionals.

The Cardinals defeated Otsego (12-12) 59-58 in overtime in the sectional final.

The Cardinals then defeated top-seeded Genoa (20-4) 53-49 in overtime in the district semifinal.

In the district final against second-seeded Eastwood (20-5), Stritch won its second district title in three years with a 48-46 overtime victory.

In the win over Genoa, Jordan Burton hit a threepointer to tie the score and send the game into overtime.

Against Eastwood, he hit another three that gave the Cardinals a one-point advantage it never gave up.

Joey Holifield led Stritch against Genoa with 14 points. Collin Yost hit three three-pointers.

Against Eastwood, Logan Frobose scored 11 points to lead the Cardinals. Cade Boos added 10.

Marion Local Vs. Edison

In tonight’s first game, the Marion Local Flyers (17-8) play the Milan Edison Chargers (16-9) at 6:15 pm.

The Flyers finished second in the Midwest Athletic Conference with a 7-2 record. Versailles, ranked second in Division III who is also in the Sweet 16, finished first with a 9-0 record.

They are on a six-game win streak.

The Chargers finished 5-9 in the Sandusky Bay Conference Bay Division.
