Wesley Elwood Wyse

Wesley Wyse Wesley Wyse Wesley Elwood Wyse, age 82 years, of Archbold, passed away Wednesday morning, March 8, 2017 at Fairlawn Haven Care Center in Archbold.

He was born Sept. 20, 1934, in Wayland, Iowa, to Fred and Mina (Graber) Wyse.

The family moved to Pettisville when Wes was 13, and he attended school and graduated from Pettisville High School in 1953.

On Oct. 7, 1953, he married his high school sweetheart, Evelyn Jane Short.

Wes farmed for eight years before joining his sister Bernice Wyse in The Family Bookstore, which later became Wyse Book & Office Supplies, Inc.

Wes became a trained IBM typewriter service technician, and in 1982 had the foresight to become the area’s first Apple computer dealership.

Wes was a longtime active member of the West Clinton Mennonite Church, where he taught Sunday School classes, was on the building committee, song leader, youth sponsor, and sang in a men’s quartet for many years.

Wes is survived by his wife, Evelyn, children; Julie (Steve) Nofziger, Russell (Sandy) Wyse, Gary (Robin) Wyse, all of Archbold, and Rita (Mark) Mitchell of Sewell, N.J.

Wes & Ev have 12 grandchildren, Lindsey (Alex) Ames, Lana Johnson, Chelsea (Brett) Cordy, Courtney (Alex) Stuckey, Abby (Caleb) Nafziger, Bridget (Cody) Ruffer, Stacy (Tyler) Smith, Tanner Wyse, Cassidy Wyse, Levi Wyse, Jared Mitchell, and Sydney Mitchell. Also surviving are 13 great-grandchildren.

Wes was preceded in death by his parents; brother, Orlin F. Wyse; sister, Bernice M. Wyse; infant daughter, Susan Marie; and grandson (in-law), Spencer Johnson.

Memorial services were held on Sunday at 3:30 p.m. at West Clinton Mennonite Church with Rev. Dale Kern officiating. Interment preceded in the Pettisville Cemetery.

Short Funeral Home in Archbold was entrusted with the arrangements.
