Dale E. Burk

Dale Burk Dale Burk Dale E. Burk, 79, of Morenci, Mich., died Friday, March 10, 2017, at St. Joseph Mercy Hospital in Ann Arbor, Mich., with his loving family present, after a long fight with cancer.

He was born April 22, 1937, to Carl and Lena (Sutherland) Burk in Fort Wayne, Ind.

On Dec. 20, 1975, he married Suzette (Leupp) Schmucker in Morenci, and she survives.

At age 10, Dale moved with his parents and brother, Ted, to a farm in Morenci, where he grew up and attended school. He later moved to Archbold, where he raised three children before returning to Morenci in 1975, where he resided for the remainder of his life.

While farming was a big part of Dale’s life, his love of trucks was apparent from the time he was a boy. He worked as a truck driver for 45 years in the Archbold area, retiring after 10 years from Heer Excavating in 2006.

In his spare time, Dale also enjoyed following college sports, especially the University of Michigan.

Surviving, in addition to his devoted wife, are his daughters, Barbara (Ned) Graf, of Fort Wayne, Ind.; Cathy Mack of West Unity; and Shelly (Rich Mueller) Schmucker, of Scottsdale, Ariz.; sons, Daniel (Roxie) Burk of West Unity, and Darren (Cindy) Schmucker, of Morenci, Mich.; one brother, Ted Burk of Morenci, Mich.; 11 grandchildren; and 15 great-grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by his parents and sister-inlaw, Beverly Burk.

A funeral service for Dale was held Monday, March 13, 2017, at 11 a.m. at Medina Federated Church, 12603 Medina Road, Hudson, with Pastor Darren Lemmon officiating. Burial followed at Oak Grove Cemetery in Morenci.

The Eagle Funeral Home in Morenci was entrusted with the arrangements.
