Archbold 8th Grade Boys Basketball

Two wins last week upped the eighth grade boys basketball record to 6-3.

Archbold outscored Fairview 22- 4 in the second half to down the Apaches 38-18, Tuesday, Jan. 10. Mike Weigand pumped in 14 points and hauled in eight rebounds for the Streaks while Benny Gomez, Matt Kinsman, Derek Walker, Justin Coffey, and Seth Mayer added to the total.

Another outstanding second-half performance bolstered the Streaks to a 41-19 thumping of rival Patrick Henry, Thursday, Jan. 12. The Streaks outscored the Patriots 23-4 in the second half.

Gomez erupted for 15 second-half points for his game-leading total of 17. Jacob Rodriguez, Jeremy Lerma, Weigand, Walker, Kinsman, Coffey, and Mayer also scored.

Kinsman played his best game of the year, leading the fast break and dishing out seven assists, said Dick Selgo, coach.

Archbold 7th Grade Boys Basketball

Archbold upped its record to 5-4 after last week’s action.

The Fairview Apaches invaded Archbold Middle School, Tuesday, Jan. 10, and prevailed in a close game 42-35.

Leading the way for the Streaks was Jack Fisher with 14 points. Jonah Waidelich and Toby Walker each bucketed 10.

Patrick Henry visited Thursday, Jan. 12. With the score tied at 8 after one quarter, the Streaks dominated the final three quarters to come away with a convincing 43-13 victory. Ian Radabaugh and Walker combined for 18 points.
