Crash Victim Struck At Accident Scene
The driver of a grain truck that was involved in a Sunday evening crash was struck by another vehicle that came upon the crash scene.
The Ohio State Highway Patrol still is investigating both incidents. As of Monday afternoon, few details were available.
Information released by the OSHP indicates a grain truck, driven by Wayne Steffens, 68, Waldron, Mich., and a car driven by Steven Joanni, no age available, Warminster, Pa., collided on St. Rt. 66 about a half-mile north of Co. Rd. J in Franklin Township.
Andy Brodbeck, Archbold Fire Chief, said Archbold Rescue received the call at 6:37 pm.
Joanni had a passenger in his auto, Carol Joanni, age unavailable, same address.
After the crash, Steffens, who, the patrol said, was standing in the roadway, was struck by a third auto, driven by Tralene Wiechers, 57, Napoleon, which was traveling south on St. Rt. 66.
S. Joanni was picked up at the crash scene by helicopter ambulance and flown to the St. Vincent Mercy Medical Center, where he was in critical condition Monday afternoon.
Steffens and Carol Joanni were transported by Archbold Rescue to the Fulton County Health Center. They were transferred to other hospitals; an FCHC spokesman declined to give more details.
