Flashlight Egg Hunt Rescheduled For Thursday

Rain, high winds, and chilly temperatures postponed the Archbold Parks & Recreation Department Flashlight Easter Egg Hunt on Saturday night, April 16.

Jennifer Kidder, Parks & Recreation director, said the hunt has been rescheduled for 9:30 pm tomorrow night, Thursday, April 21.

As of Monday afternoon, the National Weather Service forecast for Thursday night was for mostly cloudy skies with a low of 36 degrees.

What if weather forces the egg hunt to be cancelled a second time.

“I don’t want to even think about that,” Kidder said.

“We’re going to do something. We’ve got about 2,000 (plastic) eggs downstairs filled with candy. I’m not going to let it sit there for a year,” she said.

“We’ll figure something else out.”

In other Parks & Recreation news, the Archbold Park Board held a meeting, Tuesday, April 12.

During the meeting, Kidder said board members were presented with a partial list of summer employees and their wage rates.

She said village officials must conduct interviews for one more position for the summer staff.

She said Little League tryouts are set for this week, April 18-22.

Board members also discussed the installation of a putting green at the Fairlawn Haven Retirement Community.

Kidder said the Parks & Recreation department provided some of the labor for the project, but that the department will be allowed to use the green for some of its programs.
