Archbold Baseball Wins Two, Loses One

The Archbold baseball team picked up a pair of wins and a loss last week to up its record to 5-3.

The Blue and Gold defeated Hilltop and North Central but lost to Eastwood. AHS 8, North Central 5

Archbold traveled to North Central, Monday April 4, and came home with an 8-5 victory.

Ben Miller (1-1) picked up the win. Going 5 1/3 innings he gave up five runs on 10 hits, struck out seven, and walked one.

Miller went 2-3 at the plate with a double and a run batted in. Aaron Bontrager went 2-4 with a home run and two RBIs.

Tanner Wyse and Kolin Schilt both went 2-3 with Wyse recording two RBIs. Eastwood 8, AHS 2

Archbold suffered its third loss of the season when the Streaks hosted Eastwood, Tuesday April 5.

Eastwood (4-3) jumped out to a 4-1 lead after the first inning and never looked back. The Eagles pounded out 12 hits to just nine for AHS.

At the plate, Bontrager went 2-4 with one RBI. Chandler

Tuckerman went 2-3.

Tyson Dietrich (0-1) suffered the loss. In four innings the Archbold sophomore gave up seven runs on nine hits, struck out four, and walked three. AHS 6, Hilltop 5

It took an extra inning and a Bontrager walk-off single for the Streaks to defeat Hilltop 6-5, Thursday, April 7.

Hilltop (3-3) led 3-2 heading into the bottom half of the fifth inning when the Streaks scored one run to knot the game at 3.

The Cadets answered with two runs in the top of the sixth for a 5-3 advantage. The Blue and Gold scored single runs in the bottom of the sixth and seventh innings to tie the game.

Miller sent the game into extra innings with a two-out RBI single up the middle, knotting the score in the bottom of the seventh.

Bontrager led AHS at the plate with three singles and the game-winning RBI. Dietrich hit a single and a double. Zach Driver had two singles and two RBIs, while Michael Walker was 2-3 with an RBI.

Archbold had 12 hits in the game.

Bontrager picked up the win on the mound. In two innings he gave up no runs on one hit, struck out four and walked one.
