Mann, Nofziger Win Kart Races At Fort Wayne, Ind.
Jeremy Mann, 15, Archbold, and Vance Nofziger, Pandora, formerly of Archbold, were feature event winners in kart racing action at Ft. Wayne, Ind., Friday, Aug. 27.
It wasn’t easy for Mann. After finishing second in the first heat of junior stock action, John Huffman, veteran Archbold kart racer, said the youngster complained his accelerator pedal “felt funny.”
It felt funny because its mounting point had broken.
Using “farm engineering,” Huffman said he put together a temporary fix using hose clamps and plastic wire ties. It was good enough for a third in the second heat, and a win in the feature.
Nofziger, running in the econo senior class, picked up two third-place finishes in heat races, then won his feature event, his seventh of the season.
Huffman, running in stock heavy, had a fourth and a seventh in heat races, then finished sixth in the feature.– information provided by John Huffman, written by David Pugh
