South Defiance Street Construction

South Defiance Street was bustling with activity when workers from Smith Paving & Excavating, Norwalk, rebuilt curbs on Friday, May 28, as part of the South Defiance Street repaving project. Bob Seaman, village engineer, said curbs on the west side of South Defiance street, from the Norfolk Southern railroad crossing to the West Barre Road-Lafayette Street intersection, were replaced in seven days. Work started Tuesday, June 1, on the east side of the street. Most of the cost of the repaving project is being paid through federal economic stimulus funds. –photo by David Pugh South Defiance Street was bustling with activity when workers from Smith Paving & Excavating, Norwalk, rebuilt curbs on Friday, May 28, as part of the South Defiance Street repaving project.
