Charles J. Graber
Charles J. Graber, age 97, of rural Stryker, passed away Tuesday morning, May 4, 2010, at Fairlawn Haven Nursing Home in Archbold.
Prior to his retirement he had been a lifelong area farmer.
Charles was born near Stryker on April 5, 1913, the son of the late Amos and the late Lydia (Short) Graber. On June 7, 1942 he married Anna Karen Swartz, and she preceded him in death in 2001.
He was a member of Pine Grove Mennonite Church, near Stryker, where he had been a Sunday School teacher for over 60 years.
He was also a lifelong member of the Ohio Hampshire Association.
Surviving is one son, John (Juanita) Graber of Stryker; one daughter, Ann K. (Jim) Hershberger of Linville, Va.; and four grandchildren, Scott Graber, Nathan and Rachel Hershberger, and Sara Gingerich.
Charles was preceded in death by his wife; parents; three brothers Guy, George and Clarence Graber; and two sisters, Anna Ringenberg and Catherine Lamberson.
A memorial service will be held at 11 a.m. on Friday, May 7, 2010, at Pine Grove Mennonite Church, with Pastors Gary and Sandy Stuckey and Pastor Jim Hershberger officiating. Interment will precede at 10 a.m. at Lockport Cemetery, near Stryker.
Friends may call at Pine Grove Mennonite Church on Thursday from 3-5 and 6-8 p.m.
The family requests that memorial contributions be given to the Mennonite Central Committee, Eastern Mennonite University, Fairlawn Haven Nursing Home, or the charity of the donor's choice.
