Letter To The Editor

Last week’s editorial, entitled “Who’s In Charge? The School Board” stated the Board of Education is in charge and is making all of the decisions in regards to the school district.

In this article the editor invites Archbold citizens to ask questions of our current Board of Education members.

I can only think of one question that needs to be asked of our Board of Education: If the Archbold Buckeye is correct in this assessment that the Board is running the school district, then why are we paying a superintendent?

Clearly, we have been looking in the wrong places for budget cuts, and it appears the district could save the superintendent’s salary and his fringe benefits of over $100,000, instantly, by eliminating the superintendent’s position.

It should also be noted that transparency is not inherent with the Board of Education’s conduct.

It becomes increasingly difficult for a citizen to ask questions at Board of Education meetings when they continually enter into executive session to meet behind closed doors.
