Toledo Firm Buys Quality Graphics
      Metzgers Printing + Mailing, Toledo, has purchased selected assets of Quality Graphics, Archbold. The sale was completed last month. Quality Graphics has ceased operations. Terms of the sale were not disclosed.

December Unemployment Jumps In County, State
      During December 2009, the Fulton County unemployment rate jumped up 1.3 percentage points, while the State of Ohio unemployment rate approached 11%. The Ohio Department of Job and Family Services estimated that during December, the Fulton County unemployment rate was 14.3%, up from the November 2009 figure of 13%.

Junior Fair Board Attends Conference In Columbus
      The Fulton County Junior Fair Board attended the Ohio Fair Managers Association Junior Fair Conference, Tuesday, Jan. 5 in Columbus. Members attended workshops that help junior fair members manage their leadership roles and the way their performance impacts their involvement in other organizations.

Fulton Co. Heart Radiothon Keeps Ticking In 36th Year
      The Fulton County Heart Radiothon upped its goal for 2009 by $13,020 over last year, to $33,850. Rich Batdorf, treasurer of the Radiothon board, said board members added $16,000 to the budget to replace 15 of the original Automatic External Defibrillators, or AEDs.

Sales Tax Revenue Continues Slide
      Sales tax revenue collected by Fulton County vendors continued a downward trend, generating $281,436.38 in January. Compared to January 2009, that result is off by $24,320.67, or 7.95%. In January 2009, Fulton County sales tax generated $305,757.05.

School Board Okays Wind Consultant Deal
      The Archbold Area School Board voted to pay Aaron Godwin of The Renaissance Group up to $80,000 for consulting services in connection with the ongoing study of wind energy at its Monday, Jan. 11 board meeting. The vote came after a long discussion and review of the wind project, which started in 2006.

Library Board Expects Another Funding Cut
      The Archbold Community Library Board ended 2009 with $34,094.73 to carry into 2010, which, with an additional $18,000 in state funding, should be enough. The amount will carry the library through until February or March, when the library will receive property tax money from the county.
