Gun Found In PHS Parking Lot; Boy In Custody
Officials are releasing few details, but a 16-year-old boy, a Pettisville High School student, could face charges for allegedly bringing a gun onto school property. Fulton County Sheriff Department deputies confiscated what has been described as a long gun, or a hunting rifle, from the student's vehicle, which was parked in the PHS parking lot, Thursday morning, Feb. 4. The youth was taken into custody and is being held at the Northwest Ohio Juvenile Detention Center. Charges are pending.
School officials say none of the district's students or staff was in any danger.
Steve Switzer, Pettisville School District superintendent, said the district used its instant alert system to place prerecorded phone calls and send text messages and emails to parents informing them of the incident.
