Mark Cerda and Dan Bruner, both with Pettisville area addresses, are among five people who have picked up petitions to run for Fulton County Commissioner.

They will run for the seat being left open by Joe Short, who decided not to seek reelection.

Others who have picked up petitions are Michael Jason Vasko, Wauseon, and Pamela Moore, Swanton.

Kathy Meyer, Fulton County Board of Elections director, said one other person has picked up a petition for the commissioner slot, but asked that their name not be revealed.

All expressed an interest in running in the Republican primary.

Melanie Gilders, deputy director, said no one has expressed an interest in running for commissioner in the Democratic primary.

To have their names placed on the primary ballot, candidates must file petitions, with the required number of signatures of registered voters, by 4 pm, Monday, Feb. 18.

So far, no one has filed a petition.
