William Clair
William J. “Bill” Clair, age 85 years, of Archbold, passed away Sunday morning, Dec. 20, 2009, at the CHP Defi- ance Area In- Patient Hospice Center.
He was born Aug. 24, 1924, near Archbold, the son of Henry and Mabel (Seiler) Clair, and married Ruth Johnson on Oct. 26, 1946.
A resident of the Wauseon area many years before moving to Archbold, he worked at Campbell Soup Company in Napoleon, retiring in 1988. He was an Air Force Veteran of WWII.
He was a charter member of Crossroads Evangelical Church in Wauseon, and a lifetime member of the Wauseon American Legion Post 265.
He is survived by his wife, Ruth; two daughters, Pamela Rychener of Archbold, and Paulette (Curtis) Spotts of Phoenix, Ariz.; six grandchildren; 11 great-grandchildren; and one sister, Violet Churchill of Young Harris, Ga.
He was preceded in death by his parents; a son-in-law, Charles Rychener; one granddaughter, Sara Burkholder; one brother, Herman Clair; two sisters, Trula Carter and Mary Raker.
Memorial services will be held today, Wednesday, at 11 a.m. in the Chapel of Crossroads Evangelical Church, with Pastors Matt Boyers and Tyler Quillet officiating. Interment will precede at 10 a.m. in the Pettisville Cemetery with graveside military services by American Legion Post 265 Honor Guard.
