Freda M. Ruffer

Freda M. Ruffer, age 78, of Wauseon, passed away Friday, Oct. 16, 2009, at the University of Toledo Medical Center in Toledo. 

Prior to her retirement she had worked at the former Sheridan Manufacturing/Sheller-Globe/United Technologies Automotive in Wauseon.

Freda was born in Fulton County, Ohio on Feb. 5, 1931, the daughter of the late Leonard and the late Della (Carey) Grime. On Sept. 4, 1953 she married Donnell Ruffer, and he preceded her in death in 1997.  

She was a member of Trinity Lutheran Church in Wauseon, a member of the Order of the Eastern Star, Fulton Chapter, and a member of the Dendora Court of Toledo. 

She was a volunteer with Hands of Grace in Delta and also volunteered at the Fulton County Health Center.

Surviving are five daughters, Roberta (late Butch) Roose of Archbold, Linda Cox of Tulsa, Okla., Annette (George) Blissett of Wauseon, Sandra  (Scott) Howard of Wauseon, Valerie (David) Skinner of Bryant, Ark.; one son, John (Elizabeth) Ruffer of Wauseon; 16 grandchildren; 32 great-grandchildren; and one great-great-granddaughter.  

She was preceded in death by one grandson, and siblings Betty Burkholder, Mae Van Etten, Dorothy Haas, Julie Storrer, Anna Rose Schnitkey, "Bus" Grime, and Lillian Barringer.

Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m., Wednesday, Oct. 21, 2009, at Trinity Lutheran Church, with the Rev. Timothy Sonnenberg and the Rev. Jen Herrmann officiating. Interment will follow in the Wauseon Union Cemetery.  

Friends may call at the Edgar-Grisier Funeral Home in Wauseon on Tuesday from 2 until 8 p.m. 

The family requests that memorial contributions be given to Trinity Lutheran Church, the American Cancer Society Relay for Life, or the Order of the Eastern Star.
