Library Fiscal Officer Explains Resignation

Laura Hutchison, Archbold Community Library fiscal offi cer, said there were several factors behind her decision to resign.

Her letter of resignation was accepted at a special board meeting, Wednesday, June 17.

The reason for her resignation was not discussed during the meeting.

In a later interview, Hutchison said her husband, who is retired, has purchased a winter home in Florida. She would like time off to travel between the two. She had planned to leave the job in October.

She said on June 3, she was given "a harsh evaluation" by her superiors, "and I decided to quit to allow the library to hire someone else."

"I just felt they were overboard in what they complained about. The errors that were made were all fixable," she said.

"I feel Archbold is fortunate to have such a beautiful library, with a wonderful staff to help patrons," she said
