Nofziger 4th In Midwest Meet Of Champions

She was the first Pettisville athlete to participate in the meet.- photo courtesy Tom Wagner Haley Nofziger, a 2009 Pettisville graduate, placed fourth in the long jump at the Midwest Meet of Champions, Saturday, June 13, at Jackson, Mich.

The Midwest Meet of Champions is one of the longest running postseason high school track meets in the nation.

Each event pits three graduated senior athletes from Ohio, Michigan, and Indiana, nine athletes total, in a team-based competition to crown the Midwestern champion.

Nofziger's longest jump was 17 feet, 1 3/4 inches.

Christienn Linton, Romulus, Mich., won with a jump of 18-6 1/2. Second was Tamica Harbour, Ohio, with a jump of 17-8. Ariel Roberts, Ann Arbor Pioneer, Mich., was third with a jump of 17-3.

Tipp City Bethel's Kylie Kopp, who won the 2009 Ohio Division III state title, finished eighth at the Midwest Meet of Champions with a jump of 19- 1 1/2.
