"Sound Of Music" Features Area Actors

Several actors from Archbold, Elmira, and Ridgeville Corners have roles in the Archbold Community Theatre production of The Sound of Music.

Based on the memoir of Maria von Trapp, it was turned into a musical by Richard Rogers and Oscar Hammerstein II. It debuted on Broadway in 1959 and as a movie in 1965.

Steve Van Sickle of Elmira plays the role of Captain von Trapp, while Casey Short, Archbold, is the captain's oldest daughter, Liesl.

Liesl's love interest is Rolf, played by Seth Nofziger, Archbold.

Captain von Trapp is drawn to Elsa, played by Lynn Lehman, Archbold, but eventually falls for Maria, who is assigned as governess to the von Trapp children.

Archbold youth Caleb Wyse, 14, plays Friedrich, and Natalie Rupp, 12, plays Louisa.

Anna Woolace, 9, Ridgeville Corners, is Brigitta.

Kathy Smith, Archbold, is Sister Margaretta.

Michael D. Short, Archbold, is the director; Kyle Rohrs, Ridgeville Corners, leads the orchestra.

Other cast members:

Archbold: Haley Behnfeldt, Samantha Leach, Anna Yoder, Sue Short, David Stuckey.

Pettisville: Amanda Short, Mary Short, Ben Frey.

Ridgeville Corners: Randy and Diane Rohrs.

ACT will present "The Sound of Music" at the Archbold High School auditorium Friday and Saturday, July 17, 18, 24, and 25 at 7:30 pm, Sunday, July 26, at 2 pm.
