     Haley Nofziger, the Archbold boys 4x200-meter relay team of Jake Fidler, Nate Hammersmith, Breon Price, and Garrett Waidelich, and the AHS girls 4x100 relay team of Haley Nemcik, Melinda Sauder, Katherine Moody, and Autumn Lantz won D-III regional championships, Friday, May 29 at Tiffin.

     Sandy Valley scored one run...its only run...on a wild pitch with two outs in the top of the seventh inning, but that's all it needed to defeat Archbold 1-0 in the Division III regional final, Saturday, May 30 at Ashland.

     Archbold scored three runs in the second inning, three in the third, two in the fourth, and two in the sixth on its way to a 10-0 six-inning victory over New London, Wednesday, May 27 in a D-III regional semifinal at Ashland.

      Each year, America sets aside one day to honor veterans of the armed services, including those who served during times of war, times of peace, and many who gave their lives for their country. American Legion Posts in Archbold, Pettisville, and Ridgeville Corners held services to honor veterans on Memorial Day, Monday, May 25.

School Board Looks At Buying Church Land Along Park Street
      The Archbold Area School Board might purchase property that would make space available for a possible replacement of the Archbold Middle School. The board agreed to form a small focus group, with the goal of looking into purchasing about 3.5 acres of property owned by the Archbold Evangelical Church, at the Thursday, May 21, board meeting.

AHS To Give Out 99 Diplomas Sunday
      For the 118th year, Archbold High School will conduct commencement exercises. In a ceremony set for 2:30 pm, Sunday, May 31, in the Archbold High School gym, a total of 99 members of the Class of 2009 will graduate. Thirty-one will receive honors diplomas, and 13 are members of the National Honor Society.
