Meller Receives Perfect Score At State Science Day

Rebekah Meller, Pettisville High School senior, received a perfect score of 40 from the judges at the Ohio Academy of Science during State Science Day, Saturday, May 9 at Ohio State University, Columbus.

Meller received a superior rating and also earned the Food Science and Engineering Award. The award includes a $350 prize.

Meller was one of only 10 students who earned a five-year award for presenting science projects for five years at State Science Day.

Her projects earned superior ratings each year, and in four of the five years she received perfect scores.

In the high school division, Ashley Eicher, a PHS junior, also earned a superior rating. Eicher's project earned a Governor's Award for excellence in agriculture and food science.

In addition, Eicher earned a Heidelberg University Science Scholarship.

Emily Herring, a sophomore, earned an excellent rating.

In the junior high division, Annie Eicher and Brooke Betz earned superior ratings, while Steven Young, Mackenzie Riegsecker, and Amber Loar earned excellent ratings.

Donna Meller, Pettisville High School science teacher, accompanied the students.
