Ralph L. Rupp

Ralph L. Rupp, age 86, of Archbold, went to be with his Lord and Savior on May 9, 2009, after a valiant battle with heart and lung disease.

Ralph was born in Elmira, Ohio on Nov. 11, 1922, the son of the late Sam C. and the late Vernie (Bowman) Rupp. On Sept. 11, 1948, he married June Avon Barton of Trilby, Ohio, and she survives.

He was a member of the Archbold Evangelical Church, where he taught Sunday School and served as youth leader for many years. He had also served as a church elder for a number of years.

As one of the founders of Miracle Camp in Lawton, Mich., he served as a lifetime member of their board of directors.

During World War II he served in the U.S. Navy as an aviation radioman in the Pacific Theater.

Before moving to Archbold, he lived in Stryker for 45 years. There he was a lifetime member of the Stryker Sportsmens Club and the Williams Co. Sportsmens Club. He was also a member of the Stryker Rotary Club, where he was a past-president and also a Paul Harris Fellow.

Self-employed as an electrician, he then went into the water conditioning business, having owned 11 different franchises over a period of time. In his later years he became a realtor and an auctioneer under the Promised Land Realty and Yoder and Frey.

Ralph was a loving and devoted father, grandfather, greatgrandfather, brother and husband, and will be deeply missed. His constant faith in his Lord and Savior has been an encouragement to all who knew him.

He is survived by his wife, June, of Archbold; two daughters, Alana (David) Newcomer of Bryan, and Shelley (David) Sysum of Eaton Rapids, Mich.; two sons, Jack (Ginna) Rupp of Ft. Wayne, Ind., and Terry L. Rupp of Camden, Mich.; grandchildren Amanda (Scott) Wolfrum; Katie and Bree Lloyd; Leah, Lesley and Jake Rupp; Arianna, Bronson and Adalene Sysum; and a set of twin great-granddaughters, Ava and Ella Wolfrum; and one sister, Florence Roth of Archbold.

He was preceded in death by one son, Randy Lee Rupp; his parents; two brothers, Charles and Ray Rupp; and one sister, Alice Rupp.

Memorial services will be held at 10 a.m. Friday, May 15, 2009, at the Archbold Evangelical Church, 705 Lafayette St., Archbold, with Dr. Veryl Roth, officiating. Interment will be in the Floral Grove Cemetery, West Unity.

Friends may call in the Chapel at Fairlawn Haven Nursing Home on Thursday from 2 until 8 p.m.

The family requests that memorial contributions be given to Miracle Camp or Hospice of C.H.W.C.
