Legion Posts Announce Memorial Day Plans
American Legion Posts in Archbold, Pettisville, and Ridgeville Corners have announced plans for their 2009 Memorial Day services.
Memorial Day is Monday, May 25.
At Archbold, the Buehrer- Lauber-Weckesser Post 311 will present its program at the Archbold Knights of Columbus Rebeau Hall beginning at 9:30 am.
The speaker is Daniel Grime, an Archbold High School graduate who served in the U.S. Army, where he was a sergeant. His duty included two tours in Iraq. After being honorably discharged earlier this year, he joined the Ohio National Guard. He resides in rural Archbold.
Following the program, the Archbold Boy Scouts will serve breakfast.
In Pettisville, Legion Post 445 will present the program. It starts with a parade at 9:45 am from the Pettisville Park to the Pettisville Cemetery.
The speaker is Steve Switzer, superintendent of the Pettisville Local School District. Switzer holds a doctorate degree, and last year, received the Buckeye Association of School Administrators' Warren Russell Leadership Award, recognizing his impact on education for Ohio children "through his dedication, leadership, and involvement in legislative issues."
Following the event, there is a community potluck at the Pettisville Park at 11:30 am.
The Ward L. Adams American Legion Post 454, Ridgeville Corners service starts at 10:30 am at the Legion Hall.
Speaker is Chad Nagel, a Tinora High School graduate, who served with the Navy from 2001 through 2006, when he was honorably discharged.
He then enlisted with the U.S. Army reserve, and is attached to the 391st Military Police Battalion in Columbus.
A potluck dinner follows.
