Sale Of Evan Church Building Pending

Andy Brodbeck, chairman of the Archbold Evangelical Church elder board, said Tuesday there is an agreement for the sale of the former church building at the corner of Franklin and Park streets.

Joe Rodriguez, finance director of the Burlington Church of The Assemblies of God, confi rmed its congregation had agreed to purchase the property.

The final closing date has not been set.

"Everybody is excited about the move," Rodriguez said.

Originally formed in 1870, Archbold Evangelical Church first constructed a building southeast of Archbold in 1880.

In 1922, the Park St. church building was constructed. Additions were built in 1956-57 and 1977.

AEC held its first service in the new Lafayette Sreet church on Dec. 4, 2008.

The Burlington Church of The Assemblies of God was formed about 47 years ago. Its present location, on Co. Rd. G, is its third location.

The Co. Rd. G structure will be sold, Rodriguez said.
