Liberty Center Wins NWOAL Wrestling Crown; Blue Streaks Finish Fourth

Liberty Center won the Northwest Ohio Athletic League wrestling tournament at Wauseon High School, Saturday, Feb. 14 with a team score of 199.5 points.

The Tigers had also won the dual meet portion with an 8-0 record.

Wauseon took second with 186, followed by Delta 180, Archbold 158.5, Bryan 119, Montpelier 111, Swanton 83.5, Patrick Henry 73.5, and Evergreen 48.

The tournament marked the end of the regular season.

"With so many new guys in the lineup this year, you have no idea what to expect," said Brian Becher, AHS head coach, about the regular season.

"We knew we had a fantastic freshman class coming in, but they were still freshmen. I think some of them exceeded our expectations, and with our upper class we had such a fantastic environment in our practice room this year.

"We don't have any quitters. The kids are getting good grades, and we are focusing on things in our lives to make them better kids; that is what I am most proud of.

"The kids are getting good grades and working hard in the room every day. That is the thing I think is the most successful- getting good grades and learning to work hard."
