Viola Aeschliman

Viola Aeschliman, age 94 years, of Wauseon, passed away early Wednesday morning, July 16, 2008 at the Fulton County Health Center in Wauseon.

She was born Feb. 25, 1914 near Archbold, a daughter of Samuel and Katie (Nofziger) Sauder. She married Omar Aeschliman on Nov. 5, 1933, and he preceded her in death in 1972.

A resident of Wauseon since 1950, she was a homemaker, and a child care provider for many years. She was a charter member of the Zion Mennonite Church in Archbold.

She is survived by one son, Donald Aeschliman of Fort Wayne, Ind.; two daughters, Mary (Carl) Gibson of Nickelsville, Va., and Joyce Shehorn of Wauseon; seven grandchildren; 12 great-grandchildren; and one great-great-grandson.

She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband; two daughters, Shirley Christenson and an infant, Betty Lucille; a sonin law, Bill Shehorn; two brothers, Edwin Sauder and Melvin Sauder; four sisters, Emma Grieser, Fannie Sauder, Laura Roth, and Carrie Miller.

Memorial services were held on Saturday at 11 a.m. at the Zion Mennonite Church with Pastors Sherm Kauffman and Mona Sauder officiating. Interment preceded in the Pettisville Cemetery.

Short Funeral Home in Archbold was in charge of the arrangements. The family suggests that memorials be given to the Zion Mennonite Church.
