County Unemployment Down To 7.5 Percent The Ohio Department of Job and Family Services announced last week that the estimated unemployment rate of Fulton County in April was 7.5%, down seven-tenths (.7) of a percentage point from March. Since January 2008, Fulton County has had the highest unemployment rate in the four county area; 7.5% is the lowest rate so far in 2008. The March rate was 8.2%, revised down a tenth (.1) of a point from an originally announced 8.3%. Williams County had the lowest unemployment rate in the Four County area, at 5.8%, followed by Defiance County at 5.9%. Henry County April unemployment rate, as estimated by ODJFS, was 7.2%. ODJFS estimated that in April, there were 23,600 persons in county labor force, with 21,800 working, and 1,800 unemployed. Northwest Ohio In Northwest Ohio, Fulton County's 7.5% unemployment rate was second only to Ottawa County, which had a 7.6% rate. Huron County had an ODJFS estimate of 8.4% in April. Out of Ohio's 88 counties, Fulton County was tied for the ninth-highest unemployment rate with Muskingum County. Morgan County, in south- eastern Ohio, had the highest unemployment rate for April, at 9.6%, the only county to top the 9%. Central Ohio's Delaware County had the lowest April unemployment rate, at 3.7%. State, Nation All county unemployment data is not seasonally adjusted. Comparable figures for the month of April for Ohio and the United States as a whole were 5.5% and 4.8%, respectively.
