Archbold Softball Wins District Semifinal

      The Archbold boys and girls track teams placed second at the Northwest Ohio Athletic League track meet, Tuesday, May 13 and Friday, May 16. The Streaks used their strong running events on Friday to catch up to the stronger field teams.

Three-Peat For Blue Streaks
Win League Title For Third Straight Year
      The Archbold softball team had a busy week. The Streaks won five games, which helped them grab a piece of the Northwest Ohio Athletic League title and a sectional crown. AHS (19-6) defeated Wauseon 8-5, Delta 5-3, Tinora 7-1, and swept Antwerp in a doubleheader 12-3 and 10-2.

Streaks Close Out Season With Win Over Wauseon
      The Archbold baseball team closed out its 2008 season with a 2-1 victory over Wauseon, Tuesday, May 13. The Streaks scored one run each in the bottom of the first and second innings. Wauseon didn't score until the top of the sixth.

Streak Tennis Season Ends
      The Archbold boys tennis season ended at the Division II sectional tournament, Thursday, May 15 at Archbold. The Streaks failed to advance anyone to the district tourney. In the first round of singles action, Jackson Beck (A) defeated Sheperd (Bryan) 6-4, 5-7, 6- 2.

Streaks, Birds In Div. III District Meet At Ayersville
      Archbold and Pettisville will participate in the Division III district track and field meet at Ayersville, Thursday, May 22 and Saturday, May 24. The top four finishers in each event qualify for the regional tournament in Tiffin.

Pilots Down Birds In Div. IV Sectional Final
      The Pettisville softball team ended its season just like the PHS baseball team, falling to Ayersville in the Division IV sectional final. The second-seeded Pilots (13- 10) scored four runs in the third inning and two in the fifth for a 6-3 sectional title at Liberty Center, Saturday, May 17.

PHS Girls 2nd In BBC; Boys Third

      The Pettisville track teams traveled to Edon, Tuesday, May 13 for a tri-meet with Stryker and Edon. The PHS boys were second with 54 points; Edon won with 95. Stryker placed last with 20. The PHS girls were also second with 66. Edon won with 94; Stryker was third with 15.

      After a slow start to the season, the Archbold junior varsity baseball team finished strong. The Streaks won their final two games to finish the season with an 11-12 record. Blackbirds Win BBC Title, Fall In Tourney
      In 2004, the Pettisville baseball season was cancelled due to lack of player interest. The sport returned a year later. In 2007, PHS won its first sectional championship in 23 years. Last week the Blackbirds continued their comeback with a Buckeye Border Conference title.

Mann, Huffman Win At Fremont Track
      Jeremy Mann, 12, and John Huffman were winners in their classes at the Fremont kart racing track, Sunday, May 18. Fremont went to a different format, requiring racers to qualify for starting spots, run one heat, then run a 30-lap feature, 10 laps longer than usual.
