Virginia M. Layman

Virginia M. Layman, 87, of Archbold, passed away Wednesday morning, May 7, 2008 at the Fairlawn Haven Nursing Home in Archbold.

Mrs. Layman was born in Wauseon on July 7, 1920, the daughter of the late Clarence and the late N. Frances (Olmstead) Galbraith. On Sept. 2, 1939 she married Duane L. Layman, and he preceded her in death on April 19, 2008.

Virginia was a 1938 graduate of the Fulton High School. She attended the Archbold Evangelical Mennonite Church. Virginia was also a member of the former Fulton County Trailmaster Camping Club.

Surviving is one son, David L. (Deborah) Layman of Fayette; a granddaughter, Dawn (Jay) Mohr of Bryan; a grandson, Granger (Tracy) Layman of Carthage, Mo.; and three great-grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by her parents, her husband, one brother, Harold Galbraith, and one sister, Helen Rice.

Funeral services were Saturday, May 10, 2008 at the Archbold Evangelical Mennonite Church, with Pastor Michael Rice and Pastor Stuart Rex, officiating. Interment was in the Bayes Cemetery, near Wauseon.

The family requests that memorial contributions be given to the American Red Cross, Hospice of Williams and Fulton Counties, or the Archbold Evangelical Mennonite Church.
