Zoning Board Approves Garage Variance Request

The Archbold Board of Zoning Appeals approved a zoning variance request for Grant Bernath, 203 West Mechanic Street, at a Thursday, April 24 meeting.

Bernath had requested a variance to build an unattached garage of 896 square feet at his residence. The zoning rules limit an unattached garage to 625 square feet.

At the meeting, Bernath amended the request, reducing the garage from 32 feet to 26 feet by nine feet high, or 832 square feet, so the variance was for 207 square feet.

Bernath told the board the garage will be stick-built, and will be 18 feet west of the alley on the east side of his home. It will be five feet or more from property lines.

Construction is anticipated to start in May.
