Hornish Finishes 13th In Mexico Nationwide Race

Sam Hornish, Jr., finished 13th in the Corona Mexico 200 NASCAR Nationwide Series, Saturday, April 19 in Mexico City, Mexico.

It was his first experience in a NASCAR road course event.

The Archbold High School graduate and Indianapolis 500 winner ran a strong race on the eight-turn, 2.518-mile Autodromo Hermanos Rodriguez course. He started in 11th position and ran as high as fifth, but a midrace incident dropped him toward the rear of the field.

Hornish was involved in an incident on lap 48 with the No. 5 car driven by Mexican driver Adrian Fernandez. Hornish came to pit road and changed four tires, added fuel and made repairs, including knocking out the front "toe" and fixing minor fender damage.

He fell to 32nd as action resumed on lap 51. He started working through the field and with 10 laps to go, ran solidly in
