JR. HIGH SPORTS DIGEST Archbold defeated Bryan 34-23, Tuesday, Jan. 29. Tori Williams played a good game and led the team in scoring with 16 points. Abby Short turned in a good game, scoring 10 points and grabbing 6 rebounds. Morgan Cody played an aggressive defense, which led to four steals at the right times. Chelsea Goebel had a good floor game as she had steals, rebounds and passed the ball for some assists as well as scoring 5 points. Britt Wyse did a nice job of rebounding, with 4. Ruthie Beck came in and played her usual aggressive game, and scored 1 point. Mindy Rupp rebounded, had steals and assists, and handled the ball for the team. Carley Wyse and Kristin Fonseca helped by taking care of the ball and finding open people to pass to. The Streaks were fired up for their game against Evergreen, Thursday, Jan. 31, and they didn't disappoint the spectators as they hustled and played good defense from the beginning. They were shooting the ball well the first quarter as they led 10-8. The second Evergreen picked up its defense and held Archbold to zero points as the Vikings scored 8 to take a 16-10 lead. Archbold scored 9 points to Evergreen's 10 in the third as the Vikes led 26-19. The Streaks played hard in the fourth to pull within four, but couldn't get over the hump and were defeated 34-28. Tori Williams had 8 points; Mindy Rupp and Abby Short each had 7; Carley Wyse, 4; and Britt Wyse, 2. Nancy Moser, coach, was very proud of the effort given by everyone. |
