Archbold 8th Grade Boys Basketball

Archbold hosted Liberty Center, Tuesday, Jan. 22 and posted a dominating 67-20 victory to improve to 10-1. The boys came out in a stuffing man-to-man press and had a huge 27-2 advantage after one quarter. Many steals led to many fast-break opportunities as Luke Kammeyer and Nate Rodriguez each scored 9 points. Tanner Wyse added 7 while Hayden Stamm scored a basket.

The second went to the Tigers 8-5 as the Streaks had trouble on offense. Gabe Rodriguez scored 4 of the 5 points. The Streaks led 32-10 at the half.

The third period mirrored the first as the Streaks used another big quarter and outscored the visitors 19-2. Kammeyer and Stamm led the onslaught, combining for 11 of 19. The Streaks were up 51-12. The Streaks doubled up the Tigers 16- 8 in the fourth, cruising to the 67-20 victory. "This was a nice team win and gave us the opportunity to get everyone a lot of playing time," said Brian Ziegler, coach.

Kammeyer scored 15 points; N. Rodriguez added 11. Wyse scored 9; Stamm chipped in 7.

Archbold traveled to Delta, Thursday, Jan. 24 and came home with a 62-44 win. The Streaks (11-1) started out hot, building a 12-4 lead. Delta cut the lead to 6 by the end of the quarter as the Streaks led 16-10 after one. Wyse scored 7 and Stamm, 6.

Dylan Reisser came off the bench in the second quarter and hit three threepoint shots as the Streaks outscored the Panthers 17-11 and took a 33-21 advantage at the half.

A 15-12 third went to the Streaks as they increased their lead to 48-33. The Streaks put the game away in the fourth with a 14-11 advantage, coasting to a 62- 44 win. "It was nice to see us make some shots from the perimeter," said Ziegler. "We made four three-pointers, which is an improvement from past weeks. We'll need to keep shooting the ball with confidence as the league tournament is approaching."

Wyse led Archbold with 19 points, followed by Reisser with 9, Stamm 8, N. Rodriguez 7, and T.J. Gerken, 6.

Archbold Middle School Wrestling

Archbold concluded its season at the Patriot Invitational at Patrick Henry, Saturday, Feb. 2. This is considered to be the junior high league tournament. The Streaks placed third with 144.5 points behind Wauseon, 267.5, and Liberty Center, 159.

Winning league championship titles were Danny Young, 122 pounds; Jordan Cowell, 128 lbs.; and Zach Driver, 150 lbs. Placing second were Austin Ripke, 110 lbs.; Oliver Stuckey, 116 lbs.; Cody Kovnesky, 122 lbs.; and Tyler Rufenacht, 142 lbs. Third were Kellen Seaman, 172 lbs.; and Jacob Strong, 205 lbs.
