The Streaks kept it close, but the Stryker Panthers kept their perfect record as they beat AHS 37-33, Saturday, Feb. 2 in girls basketball action.

Archbold dropped to 13-6. Stryker, ranked fourth in Division IV in the weekly Associated Press poll, upped its record to 18-0.

The Streaks had problems taking care of the ball at the start, but quickly stepped up their play.

With assists from Dani Newman and Bri Wyse, Abbey Graber gave AHS a 4-0 lead before SHS took a time-out with six minutes left in the first quarter. The Panthers came out of the time-out and scored, eventually taking a 6-4 lead with 4:20 left.

Newman tied the score at six with two foul shots.

Stryker stole the ball and scored a layup with less than a minute left. Newman hit one of two foul shots to pull within one, but SHS scored with 30 seconds left for a 10-7 advantage.

Devin and Dani Newman put up baskets to take an 11- 10 lead. Devin Newman scored again with five minutes left for a 13-12 lead.

A big three-ball by the Panthers put SHS on top 15-13.

With a minute left in the half, Stryker hit another big three to widen the gap to 20-15.

Alyssa Schaub, an AHS fresh- man, closed the deficit to three, and Adi Lange made it a onepoint deficit, 20-19, at halftime with a basket at the buzzer.

Lange scored six points less than a minute into the third period with two conventional three-point plays.

Less than two minutes remained when the Panthers made a big three-pointer. They were the last points to be scored in the third, as AHS led 27-25 going into the fourth.

Lange hit one of two foul shots to widen the difference to 28-25.

Stryker tied the score at 28 with a huge three-pointer. With four minutes left, the Panthers' Kasey Hageman hit the first of two free throws. The second missed, but Molly Boetz got the rebound and put the ball back in for two for a 31-28 advantage.

Graber made a quick two to close within one, 31-30. The Panthers widened the lead back to three with a bucket. Graber tied the game at 33 with a big three with about three minutes left.

SHS hit four of seven foul shots in the last three minutes for the win.

"It was a great battle. Both teams left it on the floor," said Kevin "Scoop" Miller, AHS head coach. "It was an extremely physical game. We missed a few too many bunnies, but I thought the girls gave a great effort."

Graber led all scorers with 13 points. Lange added nine.

Boetz led Stryker with 11.

Archbold scored one more deuce and three more free throws than the Panthers, but Stryker scored four treys to Archbold's one for the four-point difference.
