NWOESC Building A Winner For Everyone

If the Northwest Ohio Educational Service Center chooses to build a new office building in Archbold, it's a win for everyone.

The service center wins, because it consolidates offices that are spread out across four counties into one convenient location- the Archbold Industrial Park. Tenants in the industrial park enjoy quick and easy access to several highways. Those who work in the industrial park can enjoy the advantages of all Archbold amenities, from parks to restaurants and shopping opportunities.

Locating a new building in the industrial park means the NWOESC will have the advantage of Archbold municipal services, including water service, storm and sanitary sewers, and police and fire protection. Plus, the new building won't take valuable farmground out of production.

A new building will allow the service center to take advantage of the latest high-efficiency building techniques. The building design will be energy-efficient and cost-efficient, with wiring for the latest in computer and communications network equipment.

The educational service center is considering leasing space to the Northwest Ohio Computer Association, which is a win for the service center and NWOCA. NWOCA gets additional space it needs, and the service center shares the cost of the building.

Elected and administrative officials of the Village of Archbold demonstrated their dedication to progress by offering an incentive package up to $240,000.

Almost a quarter of a million dollars seems like a high price, but the new building, if constructed, will bring 100 to 120 jobs to town. While the Northwest Ohio Educational Service Center is a governmental entity that won't pay property taxes, the village will collect income taxes. Village officials say they will recover its investment in three years.

Archbold will benefit in many ways. Some NWOESC workers may choose to buy homes in Archbold and become tax-paying residents. The educational service center will purchase goods and services locally, generating local business. Service center employees will shop in Archbold stores, eat in Archbold restaurants, and participate in local activities.

Should the Northwest Ohio Educational Service Center board decide to construct its new office building in Archbold, everyone benefits.
