Wind Cooperation Needed Cooperation between the Village of Archbold and Sauder Village has set an outstanding example in long range plans for a playground at Sauder Village. Now it's time for three tax-supported entities to work for a similar successful plan. The Fulton County Commissioners, Archbold and Pettisville school districts, and Northwest State Community College are separately exploring wind power to generate electricity. The three appear stalled at square one: a wind study. A true wind study involves a tall tower, and costs well over $20,000. NSCC has found a way around an expensive study. They mounted a weather station atop their water tower. They're getting encouraging data, without spending thousands of dollars. Such thinking is needed to get a wind power project going in our area. All the entities- college, commissioners, and schools- must seriously work together, now. Energy costs are going one way: up The longer the delay, the more we pay. |
