Ridgeville Township Fire Levy On Spring Ballot

Voters in Ridgeville Township face replacement of a onemill levy for fire protection, the only contested issue on the Henry County ballot in the March 4 primary election.

If approved, the levy will continue and never expire.

The Nov. 4 election will feature races for two county commissioner seats.

Robert E. Hastedt, a Republican from Hamler, faces Robin Weirauch, a Democrat, of rural Napoleon for the Henry County Commissioner term, which starts Jan. 3, 2009. Each is unopposed on their party's primary ballot.

Richard C. Myers, Democrat incumbent, from Liberty Center, faces David A. Cordes, Republican, of Napoleon, in the fall. They, too, are unopposed on their party's primary ballot.

Other incumbents are unopposed on their primary ballots, and no challenger from the other political party filed for the fall general election. They are Judy Sonnenberg, R-rural Napoleon, clerk; Marek J. Skoskiewicz, RNapoleon, coroner; Sara L. Myles, D-Liberty Center, recorder; Randolf Germann, D-Napoleon, engineer; Calvin G. Spiess, DNapoleon, treasurer; John H. Hanna, R-rural Napoleon, prosecuting attorney; John J. Nye, R-Liberty Center, sheriff.

Independent candidates for county offices have until March 3 to file nominating petitions in the Nov. 4 election.
